The Creative Critical Reflection (CCR)

Hey Bloggers! Today I was interviewed on FNL (Friday Night Live) and I talked about my show!  CCR video:  https://youtu.be/StCTlbOkWsg?feature=shared     Script Johana: Welcome, Jade, to FNL! Today, we’re going to interview you with questions fans and many people are DYING to know because, you know… you're so successful, awesome, and creative.   Jade: Thank you, thank you. I am grateful to be here tonight and I’ll be happy to answer your questions.   Johana: Alright! Let’s get started! How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?   Jade: Well, my film, What Lurks In Night, is a horror film. It fits the horror standards, as the mood and tone are eerie. Moreover, everything in the film creates an eerie tone, from the sound effects, the scratching on the walls, the footsteps, the background music, to even the suspenseful music or even the moments that make you have goosebumps and gasp....

Inspiration!

Hi Bloggers! Today, let's discuss what inspired my film, What Lurks In Night! When I heard about a movie opener, I instantly thought of the famous movie openers of Scream. If you couldn't tell from my first few blog posts, I am a HUGE Scream fan! I wanted to recreate something similar to the opening scene of Scream. If you have never watched Scream, the movie opener starts with the person or soon-to-be victim of Ghostface. The scene starts off calm, but with the eerie atmosphere, you KNOW something is going to go wrong. In the end, the person dies and gets killed by Ghostface. That inspired me, and I wanted to make my movie opener somewhat similar.           Another thing that inspired me was this movie trailer Tati sent me. The trailer had a particular type of music that seemed PERFECT for my film, and the typography and font were perfect. As I wanted to make my movie opener similar, I tried to find similar music to the trailers but couldn't. I then c...

Title Sequence Credits

Image
Hey Bloggers! After editing for many, many, many, and many hours, I have come to a problem with the title sequence... At first, I had just put my title sequence at the end of the movie opener because it just felt right. But after looking at it more, I realized something was wrong. Realistically, what movie opener shows all the credits after the opener is done? The purpose of the movie opener is to show the credits IN the scene and to establish a bit of plot with a cliffhanger. I thought more of this, so I asked my friends for their insight and help. Luckily, my great friend, Marcus, LOVES movies and gave me some tips that helped out my film!     Although I was nervous about showing Marcus my work, I thought he'd just laugh and cringe. He was very nice about it and could give me tips and explain what looked right and what seemed unnatural. After his tips, I moved the title sequence throughout the film, so the duration lasted the whole movie. After doi...

HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT!

Image
Hey bloggers! I'm so happy to announce that our movie-opener film, What Lurks In Night, will be published in a few blog post! I am so satisfied with the results and the final product! Although I struggled with the editing, I truly am glad with the final product, and I'm SO excited to share it with you all! I struggled with finding the right sounds and music to fit the scene in editing. Although I eventually found a good song that matched the vibe, I combined multiple songs to create the vibe I wanted. Also, adding the footsteps made it challenging to make the sound realistic to the scene. I had to keep adjusting the sound so it was noticeable but not TOO loud to sound unnatural. For the end scene with the jumpscare, I combined 3 songs with a heartbeat sound effect and even a loud scream to tie everything together! Overall, I KNOW my hard work in editing will pay off since the film looks great! I am excited for everyone to see my finished product and the hard w...

Get Ready With Me To Film!

Image
Hey bloggers! If you are not caught up with my blogs and have not seen my GRWM (Get ready with me), I will show you in this blog! I showed this video on my first day of shooting a blog, but I wanted to talk more about the video so it gets its own blog! I usually watch a lot of GRWM's on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, so I was excited to film one myself! While I filmed myself getting ready, I also filmed part of Tati and I's bloopers, which I thought added to the video and made it even cuter!!     To start, it took me a while to publish the video. Mostly because I got lazy, but let's ignore that. I got excited after filming it and even editing it to my favorite song!! But then... I GOT COPYRIGHTED :(!! I made a little blog rant about that if you haven't seen it. Although I was upset, I put a different song that WASN'T COPYRIGHTED over it, and it still turned out adorable! So all is good!      I started my GRWM with me doing my skincare...

How Did We Come Up With Our Film?

Image
Hey Bloggers! Today, I will tell you all how I came up with the idea for our sleep paralysis film, What Lurks In Night!      It all started the day Tati and I were going to brainstorm. Earlier that day, my two good friends at lunch were talking about their dreams and Deja Vu. Then, we got onto the topic of sleep paralysis. My friends started telling me the horror stories of their experiences of sleep paralysis and these "sleep paralysis demons." After Tati and I decided to make a movie opener on sleep paralysis, I took inspiration from Scream. I really wanted to do horror with a monster, which could be similar to the Scream movie's movie opener with the main character dying. However, my character just got jumpscared by their sleep paralysis demon.      Overall, I am happy my friends told me their horrifying experiences with sleep paralysis as I got inspired to create our film, What Lurks in Night!
