Former Student Work!

Image
Hi there! Today we're looking at past students work and I'll be reviewing them! :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJ7L6NoW98c ^^ First video! To start, I feel the police car in the beginning was a good touch to establish the scene. However, I feel they should have added a police car siren, which would have added so much more to the establishing part of the scene. The boom shot with the title sequence was a great touch. After the title sequence, the music just cut, it felt very choppy and unexpected, I feel they should have faded the music out. I think they should have focused more on the book with the girls information. The zoom in was okay, they should have instead cut and used a mediums shot to get the girl talking. Again, they should pay more attention to the books then cut to the suspect. The plot is good and I would watch this movie for sure if I saw the opener, I just think the types of camera shots did not feel right. It felt too shaky.  https://w...

Title Research Research

Image
Hi there! Today we're doing some research on the titles of movies. The purpose of titles is to grab the viewers’ attention from bold letter to capital letters, to convey a general idea of the film, and to set the atmosphere and tone of the film. Now that we've established the purpose of a title let us investigate title sequence from multiple movies their purpose. Starting off strong we have The Lion King (2019). To start off, the title is big with all the letters being capital. The big letters instantly capture the viewers attention to the big bolded words, “LION KING.” Due to the first thing the viewers see being the words, “LION KING,” this allows them to instantly understand the general plot of the movie being about a lion that’s soon to be king. Also the words being bolded establishes the main and key information of Simba, the main character. Moreover, the word lion and king sets the mood of a wild kingdom of the Pride Landa of Africa. Next, we have Home Alone (1990). Fir...

Final Project Idea!

Image
Hi bloggers! After Tati and I brainstormed and after consideration of our materials and time we came up with our decision. DRUMROLL PLEASE!!! The film opener we're doing is about... Sleep Paralysis!       I loved this idea and couldn't stop thinking about it. I knew if we chose anything else I wouldn't stop thinking about our sleep paralysis idea. For our genre, its horror. Which I feel is completely different from my aesthetic and appearance, so I am excited to film this. Due to the film having a monster, a eerie mood, dark lighting, and just overall just unsettling, this is definitely a horror film. I feel this film will be different from others as I don't hear many people talk about sleep paralysis, also I don't know many films with the main topic being sleep paralysis, so I feel this film will be totally different from the trends we have now, I am very excited to film this!

Film Mood Board!

Image
Hi Bloggers! Today I did the mood board for my film. The main idea is about sleep paralysis and how the main character is going through depression but sleep paralysis is haunting their peace at night. So the pictures are going to be creepy and unsettling. Tati and I are going for a horror film after all...       As you can see in the pictures I have multiple pictures that shows what people see or how many depict sleep paralysis. In my film there is a sleep paralysis monster (Tati) who is haunting the main character (Jade aka me) and Jade wakes up in a park unable to move. This creates a eerie mood as shown in the pictures. Throughout the opener of the film we want to show how the main character is alone and is afraid of what's happening to her. For the costume aspect, we’re going to try to use makeup to make Tati look like the sleep paralysis demons you see in the pictures. Also, the pills, which are our props, are depressive pills (fake on...

✦.──Brainstorming── .✦

Image
Hey there! Today Tati and I were brainstorming and coming up with ideas for our final film and we came up with a few ideas that are really entertaining and some that   weren’t as great as an idea… Some of our ideas were good but they were unrealistic and would be very difficult to film with the materials and time we have.      However, our first idea was a Highschool musical. But Tati and I CANNOT sing. And I mean it. Even with autotune we knew we would sound terrible. Plus I would cringe and my self esteem can't handle singing So that was out of the picture for sure.      Our next idea was a Romcom. A romcom is a romance mixed with a comedy, as we looked up examples we really got excited about this idea. We would make Tati and her boyfriend the main characters. But as we looked more into it we realized how much planning and we really didn't know how to start it or what to do with the plot for an opener. So that was a maybe, b...

Group Members!

Image
Hey bloggers! Today for my blog I have decided who I will work with for my AICE Media Studies film! drumroll please...... I will be working with Tatiana Byczkowski !! If bloggers you don’t know her, she is my good friend, and we met in Spanish class in 8 th grade! We recently got closer because of our common classes from last year. We both suffered math together and now that we have the same Media Studies class we have become great friends.          Now you might be asking, why did you guys’ group up? Well... Tati is a hilarious and kindhearted person who will add a sense of humor and creativity to the project. We also have a lot of common as we both play club sports afterschool while having to balance our workload as both of us being a scholar athlete. So overall the choice was obvious. I know with Tati; our project will be successful, and this group will be our first steps to success. Now to the filming and editing process, Tati and I will bo...

Storyboard!

Image
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcctO0cYFLg  Link for the video my storyboard is based off! ^^      Hi there! Today I made a storyboard for the wonderful scene and song of Wonka, A World Of Your Own. I am used to making storyboards as I make them for videography and The Swamp TV. Though this did pose a challenge for me as I am not skilled in drawing guys... The time I do spend drawing, I draw girls and their facial expressions. Another thing I found challenging was how long the storyboard was. After the first page, I gave up on trying to draw efficiently and focused more on the scene and where the main components are in the scene. Also, it was very time consuming and requires a lot of dedication and patience... This took me a while as I did it over a course of a week.   But despite all these things I have learned that storyboarding is the vision of the story and how it will play out. Without a storyboard, the actors or directors may portray a differ...
